About Sinhagad Road

Sinhagad Road is named after Tanaji Malusare, the Maratha commander famous for the battle of Sinhagad. The road starts near Sarasbaug in Parvati. It runs through Dattawadi, Hingne Khurd, Vadgaon, Dhayari and Nanded before reaching the foot of the fort.

The corridor began as a quiet suburban stretch with bungalows and small societies. Over the last decade it has filled with large projects and townships. It is a corridor, not a single locality, so prices and character change a lot along its length.

The road draws on the Khadakwasla dam system for water, which is one reason it grew. Supply still varies by society, so check before you buy.

Localities and Well-Known Societies on Sinhagad Road

  • Dattawadi and Rajaram Bridge: the city end of the road, closest to Swargate and Deccan, with older buildings and redevelopment.
  • Vitthalwadi: named after the old Vitthal temple on the riverbank. Vitthalwadi Sinhagad Road is a settled pocket where the flyover now begins.
  • Hingne Khurd and Manik Baug: busy middle stretches with markets, schools and many mid-size societies.

Connectivity and Metro

Sinhagad Road flyover

PMC built the Sinhagad Road flyover between Rajaram Bridge and Fun Time Theatre in phases, at a cost of about ₹118 crore. The first section opened in August 2024. The 2.2 km Vitthalwadi–Fun Time section opened on 1 May 2025, and the full stretch was complete by September 2025.

The flyover skips busy junctions such as Hingne Chowk, Inamdar Chowk and Goyal Ganga Chowk, which has cut travel times along the corridor.

Metro plans

There is no metro on Sinhagad Road yet. A new Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi line got Union approval in November 2025, and the state gave revised approval in February 2026. Exact stations and dates are not final.

A second approved line, Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug, will link the Kothrud side to Manik Baug on Sinhagad Road. Today the nearest working metro is Swargate on the Purple Line.

Roads, rail and air

  • Highway: Sinhagad Road crosses the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway (the Katraj–Dehu Road bypass) at Navale Bridge. This gives quick access to Warje, Kothrud, Baner and Hinjewadi.
  • City: Swargate and Deccan are reached via Rajaram Bridge and Dattawadi.
  • Railway: Pune Junction is the main station, reached through Swargate.
  • Weekend trips: Khadakwasla Dam and Sinhagad Fort are short drives from the outer end.

Schools, Hospitals and Shopping

Education: the Sinhgad Institutes campus, Zeal College of Engineering, DSK School, Green Acres School, Versatile School and Chandrashekhar Agashe High School serve the corridor.

Hospitals: Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital is close to the city end. Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pulse Multispeciality Hospital and several local hospitals serve the rest of the road.

Shopping and entertainment: Abhiruchi Mall, City Pride Multiplex and many shops and restaurants line the road. Restaurants on Sinhagad Road are a big draw on weekends.
