About Katraj

Katraj grew around a lake built in the Peshwa era, in the 18th century. That lake once supplied water to the city. Today it is part of the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park.

For years Katraj was a village on the old Pune–Bangalore highway. As the city spread south, it filled with housing societies, row houses and new towers. The area is now fully inside PMC limits.

Katraj sits close to the hills of the Western Ghats, so it feels greener and a little cooler than central Pune. It borders Dhankawadi, Ambegaon Budruk, Bibwewadi, Kondhwa and Undri.

Localities and Well-Known Societies in Katraj
